What is Fraudscreen for?
Fraudscreen is designed to address the increasing problem of ‘first party fraud’ from consumers who buy products and services from mail order, the internet and financial services with the intention of not paying or making fraudulent claims.
What is ‘first party fraud’?
‘First party fraud’ is when a consumer takes products or services with intent not to pay or to defraud. These commonly relate to defaults in financial services, over claiming on insurance, and non-payment of mail order products.
Why do customers commit ‘first party fraud’?
Customers have discovered that in many instances of fraud there is no way to prove that the customer is committing the misdemeanour, therefore leaving it undetected and without adverse consequences to themselves.
Is Fraudscreen unique?
Yes! Fraudscreen uses a unique dataset and behavioural coding process to provide the opportunity to assess risk on potential new customers.
Is Fraudscreen another version of Credit Scoring?
No. Fraudscreen is an entirely new and different approach to creating a predictive risk assessment on a customer. It is based on a new behavioural coding system that can be tailored to each particular client and product.
Why not use Credit Scoring to predict ‘first party fraud’?
Clients can use Credit Scoring as a tool in this process. However, Fraudscreen is unique in addressing the issue of a customer’s intent to pay. Credit Scoring focuses only on a customers’ ability to pay.
Is Fraudscreen a Business to Business product?
No. Fraudscreen has been designed to deal with the rapid increase in ‘first party fraud’ from consumers and is not appropriate in a business-to-business context.
Does Fraudscreen supply lists or prospect pools?
No. Fraudscreen never supplies lists or prospect pools. Nobody ever sees the data within the Fraudscreen database. The data is used for the sole purpose of creating the unique coding systems.
Does Fraudscreen share data?
No. Data is contributed to the database on the strict agreement that it is not shared with other member clients. Fraudscreen clients never see or have access to each other’s data.
Is Fraudscreen a Data Controller?
No. Fraudscreen is a Data Processor. In its role as a Data Processor it acts on behalf of its member clients to create the behavioural codes.
How can I be sure my data is secure?
The Fraudscreen database is held externally in a single location at our bureau Blue Sheep – a blue chip bureau. No data is ever shared. No client ever sees another client’s data.
Is Fraudscreen a member of the Direct Marketing Association?
Yes. Fraudscreen has been a member of the DMA since its inception and is fully bound and compliant by the DMA CAP (Code of Advertising Practise) code. In addition, Tony Masters, the Data Intelligence Director and James Middlehurst, the Managing Director, are serving members of the Direct Marketing Authority which oversees compliance with the Data Protection Act.
Are Fraudscreen data compliant?
Yes. The Data Commissioner has confirmed that Fraudscreen is data compliant. The whole behavioural coding process has been designed to ensure full compliance with the Data Protection Act and the CAP code – the code of conduct for the Direct Marketing Industry.
How difficult is Fraudscreen to use?
Fraudscreen is very simple to implement and use. Codes can be delivered to the client via secure web enabled transfers. Codes can be supplied in batch or RealTime.
What is Fraudscreen RealTime?
Fraudscreen RealTime is the coding system for processing ‘live’ applications from either the phone or internet where the risk assessment code is required immediately. RealTime codes can be supplied in less than one second.
Will I have to change my IT systems to be able to use Fraudscreen codes in my business?
Fraudscreen can be used without changes to I.T. systems, although for optimal use in a high volume environment, many businesses will want to automate their processes.
Do Fraudscreen do Application Scorecards?
Yes. One of the many consultancy support services Fraudscreen offers is to build bespoke application scorecards for member clients.
How much will Fraudscreen cost me?
The cost of using the Fraudscreen product will depend on the quantity and frequency of usage. For every client the product solution will be tailored to their particular needs and a value solution implemented.
How much will it cost me to test Fraudscreen?
Once a client is satisfied they would like to test Fraudscreen in their business, the initial data extract, test and validation is completed for a nominal test fee to cover set-up and running costs. When the client decides to use Fraudscreen coding within their operations an appropriate coding cost and user licence can be agreed.
